Join Moderator April Yvonne Garrett of Civic Frame, panelists Leon Faruq, Operation Safe Streets, The Living Classrooms Foundation Matthew Weinstein, Past President, BLEWS, and Troy Johnson, Host, The Back Room Talk Radio 105.7 FM WHFS to learn about coalitions committed to correcting current social ills and build relationships between different cultural groups.

From Ecocities to Eco Villages. Join Tracy Ward Durkin of the Urbanite, panelists Carri Harlan of Brennan + Co. Architects, Kate Herrod of Ashoka, and Paul Phillips and Dana Bloomfield of Heathcote Community to hear three perspectives on how to achieve sustainable community.

Body Wisdom, Somatic Truths. Join acupuncturist Jennifer Downs, psychiatrist Jeff Soulen, Rolfer Holly Howard, and Feldenkreis practitioner Chrish Kresge as they dialogue about how the body can be a subtle instrument to learn about and achieve balance and wholeness.

Urban Herbal Walk. Herbalist and teacher Holli Richey will lead you on a walking tour from the MICA Brown Center to teach you about common plants in our surroundings and their uses.

Demystifying Your Carbon Footprint. Join Dr. Peter C. Griffith of the Carbon Cycle & Ecosystems Office at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, panelists Dan Goodman of Biodiesel University, Dr. Forrest Hall of UMBC/NASA Joint Center for Earth Systems Technology, Walt Auburn of Maryland Energy Administration, and Peter Van Buren of TerraLogos Green Home Services to dialogue on awareness of global climate change and practical steps to reduce individual and community carbon footprints.

Urban Gardening and Farming: School Gardens, Community Gardens and Profitable Urban Farms. Join moderator Ted Rouse, co-founder of Real Food for Real Kids (a school meal reform project in Baltimore City), and panelists Roxanne Christensen, founder of Spin Farming, Larry Kloze, Master Gardener, and Rebecca Lemos, founder of City Blossoms, to explore the different ways people are establishing urban farm and garden spaces. Panelists will share their expertise on their projects and then discuss not only the benefits of these projects but also the crucial first steps necessary to establish a space including start up funds, tools and materials, and acquiring land. The seminar will also encourage participation from attendees and seek to establish an open dialogue.

The Healing of the World Starts Within. Join Josh Rothschild of The Center for Heart Hypnotherapy, panelists Sherrill Gardner of Water Spirit Wellness Center and Dale Lantz of CreativeSpirit Healing Arts Center to discuss a spiritual approach to the issue of global warming.

Urban Composting. Join Rebecca Lamos and Amanda Cunningham to discuss the basic purposes and positive results of urban composting as well as present methods of safe and effective ways to compost in a home, school or community environment through a hands-on activity. Both vermi-composting with worms and trash barrel composting will be discussed and demonstrated. The workshop will also touch on how to make this activity kid-friendly.

Business with a Conscience. Join moderator Will Anderson of the Maryland Business Roundtable and panelists Galen Sampson, OSI fellow and chef/owner of Dogwood Deli, Sean Smeeton of the Sylvan Beach Foundation, Kate McShane-Oeming of Struever Brothers Eccles and Rouse (invited), and Ann Cunningham of the Caroline Center to discuss how businesses can do well by doing good.

Nature’s Operating System. Join moderator Melora Scanlon, an acupuncturist and artist, and panelists Keith Bowers of Biohabitats, and Dana Koteen of the Koteen*Losoya Group to discuss how we can shift to a new design paradigm that embraces a world where all our actions facilitate the regeneration of ecological systems, human spirit and human evolution. The keys are: respect diversity, live off current solar income, and waste=food.

Join William Priftis, hypnotherapist and member of the Integrative Medicine Department of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, and Lauren Abramson, psychologist and founder/director of the Community Conferencing Center to learn how talking and listening to yourself and others is key to resolving conflict and living a healthier and more rational life.

Alley Gating and Greening in Baltimore – A New Opportunity. Join Kate Herrod of Ashoka: Innovators for the Public/Community Greens Initiative, panelists Barbara Bezdek, University of Maryland School of Law, Loretta Colvin, and Benjamin Nathanson to learn how to gate and “green” your alley.

Healing the City. Join acupuncturist Wendy Childs of Tai Sophia and Janet Felsten of the Green Map of Baltimore for an interactive workshop on mapping the city from the perspectives of Feng Shui and the Green Map of Baltimore. Learn how our interactions with people and places affect our environment and help identify the elements that will move Baltimore towards greater health and sustainability.
